Hatfield - McCoy Trails

Blessed by nature with some of the best terrain for outdoor recreation in the state, Lincoln County is now adding ATV trail riding to it's vast portfolio of outdoor offerings. With the 2012 opening of the Ivy Branch trail system in Lincoln County,nearly 100 miles will be added to the Hatfield-McCoy's existing 600-mile system. Eventually, the Hatfield-McCoy Trails network will include more than 1,000 trail miles. "Nobody in the east is coming close to offering what we have," said Jeff Lusk, Director of the Hatfield-McCoy Regional Recreation Authority. "For this type of activity, we are the East's Disney World."
Mud River Lake & Recreation Area

Lincoln County is also home to the Mud River Dam Recreation Area, a 307-acre lake designed for boating and fishing. The shorelines of this picturesque lake are graced by an abundance of picnic areas and hiking opportunities. Each year in early June The Lincoln County Bluegrass & Gospel Festival takes place here. This festival features local talent plus award winning groups from Tennessee and Kentucky. Bring your lawn chairs, a picnic basket, or enjoy refreshments from the concession stand as you listen to some of the best bluegrass & gospel music to be found anywhere. For two days in June the hills are truly alive with the sound of music.
Hunting & Fishing

Nestling snugly in southwestern West Virginia, Lincoln County was once the favorite hunting and fishing grounds of Native Americans inhabiting the Appalachian foothills. Today, Lincoln County remains a hunting and fishing destination for sportsman throughout the region. In addition to the public hunting offered at the Hilbert Hunting Area and the Big Ugly Public Hunting Area, arrangements can be made with local landowners for private hunts. Numerous local shops and a new Cabela's just ten minutes away round out the total outdoor experience.
Lincoln County Quilt Trail

A National Quilt Trail is rapidly spreading across Ohio to Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, Iowa, North Carolina, and beyond. Over 400 colorful quilt squares adorn barns, and other significant community structures. Lincoln County is a part of this popular movement. The Steering Committee headed by Lincoln County Parks & Recreation is busy constructing, placing, and dedicating these beautiful works of art.
